Stump grinders come in a variety of sizes but involve a rotating wheel with sharp teeth. We typically drill down to a depth of 6-12” below the ground, depending on the site requirements. This is a relatively quick and efficient method for removing tree stumps as it allows for immediate use of your space. 

Stump removal is more complex as it involves the complete extraction of the stump and its root system from the ground. Removal may be required when roots are encroaching on underground utilities or other structures. This typically involves heavy machinery like backhoes or excavators, where we dig around the stump and expose the roots for extraction. This process tends to be more time consuming. Stump removal is the preferred method when going to plant new trees in an area to prevent potential regrowth and avoid issues with existing underground root systems.
